Suresh Poduval directed his first devotional album, 'Niramala', in 2010. Niramala is a fusion of the folk art form Payyanur Kolkali and the traditions of the Payyanur Sree Subrahmanya Swamy Temple — considered the 'Pazhani of North Kerala'. According to the puranas, the name Payyanur originates from 'Payyante Ooru', the land of Sree Subrahmanya.

The lyrics of these century-old songs spring mainly from the temple's age-old traditions, carried down by word of mouth. It was the need of the hour to modify, structure and re-arrange the songs to suit the present age — a task in which he was a grand success.

Famous singers Jayachandran, Sujatha, Venugopal, Rimy Tomy and Shankaran Namboothiri lent their voices; the video album was sung and acted by Madhu Balakrishnan and Kavalam Sreekumar. Warmly received and widely appreciated, Niramala grew popular through television channels and social media. Following its wide acceptance, the album — which had only a local Malabar release in 2010 — was re-distributed across Kerala in 2015 with a new design and style.
